What do you consider before buying?
Before buying something that will be of value to you or to someone you may be buying for, what is it you consider?
- Do you think of the cost?
- Do you consider how it will feel?
- Do you decide based on whether it resonates with who you or they are?
- Do you tend to consider if it will be practical, useful?
- Do you wonder whether others will judge you for your decision?
- Do your choose based on what the other person or you would like?
Whether you are about to invest—regardless of the cost—what would help you to make the best decision before giving out your card details?
There are many who buy things, then have regrets. It’s always wise, don’t you think, to invest in products that will in the end, support your or the other person’s lifestyle, to create a sense of comfort, perhaps even certainty, so that you or whoever you’re buying for, feel and know you’ve made a great and thoughtful decision before choosing well.
Why spend money if you don't have to?
Why waste money when in the end all you have is simply more stuff?
Why buy a gift for someone who matters to you without considering some truly important questions that could be the difference between them wearing your watch with gratitude and pride, and the extreme where they end up giving your gift to one of their friends. The latter would truly suck, wouldn’t it.
So when you’re next thinking of buying a watch, a fashion item or accessory, here’s a checklist, that could help with your decision…
[ ] Is this a style that would suit your/their taste?
[ ] Is this a colour that appeals to you/them?
[ ] Is the size the best fit for you/them?
[ ] Is the design one that matches your/their personality?
[ ] Is this watch one that you/they would wear frequently or keep hidden in its box?
[ ] Is the material such that you/they would want it to touch your/their skin?
[ ] Is your choice out of love, care, respect or friendship or out of obligation or duty?
The choices we make, determine how much we care. Our reasons and decisions reflect our character. Is our decision reflecting a character that’s superficial because of a desire to be seen, to be considered important, a sense of status perhaps, or is it a genuine care that motivates us, especially when buying gifts? When buying for ourselves, are we doing so to meet our own need for significance or is it because it’s useful, comfortable, helpful, and makes us feel better about ourselves, because we deserve to pamper ourselves, to celebrate who we are.
There really is no right or wrong, is there. There’s simply choice. So whatever your choice, enjoy your gift fully. Because you. and those in your life, are worth it.
